Feb 01Prompt: draw a self portrait of you in a different time. More and more, I have been fascinated with watching things grow, and increasingly interested in the possibility of raising food from the very dirt. I have played around with gardens in the past two years and am primed to dive in headlong. I am an absolute novice when it comes to growing things, but I am convinced that in another life, in another time, I would have been without a doubt, a farmer. So here was my challenge: create an image of myself in this light. I accomplished this by two easy methods, well, three really, but the first two are props and wardrobe. I am in a flat brimmed hat with overalls. I am holding a pitchfork, resting a foot on a straw bale and chewing on a blade of wheat. The third trick is to make it look aged, so a nice sepia overlay did the trick.
